FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SHORTBLAKPLAYS PREMIERES “E TO JAMAICA CENTER II” AND “J. HOOV”
Wednesday, March 22, 2006 –Manhattan—“E to Jamaica Center II” and “J. Hoov” premiere in studio 315, 303 W.
42nd Street August 24-27.
SHORTBLAKPLAYS is more than just an evening of one acts. It is a celebration of the new black theater, a
discussion of the state of black America, a wild ride on a New York train and an odyssey into the mind of a would-
be prophetess.
Justin Turner, artistic director of Shortblakplays, describes the event as: SOUND BYTE HERE.
“J. Hoov” originally workshopped at Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago, Il, is a high energy romp, mapped by the
questionably psychotic revolutionary, Bijou of the J. Edgar Hoover Ward for the Criminally Insane. E to Jamaica
Center II, sequel to E to Jamaica Center, which has played at PSNBC, NuYorican Poets Café, and the 02 New
York Fringe Festival, spies your colleagues at work, your cousins, your sister’s first husband and that friend who
caused the divorce, your neighbors, your average, everyday New Yorkers riding the subway to from point A to
point B.
Catch a couple short black plays. Two shows a day, August 24-27. “Get Happy,” the kick-off party will take place
on August 21. For more info contact Dark Moon NYC at 1-866-761-9321, or visit the website: http://shorts.
